Steps of using t13n

Ovro is very popular now-a-days for writing bengali texts. The downside is that ovro needs to be installed at your PC. Now consider the situation where you are in front of a pc without ovro and have no option for installing ovro but you must post a comment in facebook. What to do at that situation? Well, you are in luck.. for couple of years now google have introduced there bangali transliteration (not translation) service.

Google Transliteration offers an option for converting English characters to the characters used in Bengali. This lets you type Bengali words phonetically in English script and then have them appear in Bengali. Note that this is not the same as translation - it is the sound of the words that are converted from one alphabet to the other, not their meaning. For example, typing "aamar" transliterates into Bengali as "আমার".

It's easy and gives you the ability to write Bengali instantly at any webpage anytime with a simple click. Steps are stated below:

1. Go to http://t13n.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/blet/docs/help_bn.html

2. Find the [অ Type in Bengali] link in the page and add it to your bookmarks. You can add bookmark by simply dragging the link to your bookmark bar. You are now ready to write bengali text anytime any where from now on.

3. Go to any page > select the textbox where you want to write Bengali text > click the bookmark > start writing bengali in english phonetics.

Happy Bengali writing. :-)
